Society loves to mask misogynoir as comedy, and when said “comedy” is called out by Black women, they say we are “too sensitive” because strength is the only quality they want us to possess.

Why are only Black women labelled as too sensitive when offensive jokes are thrown our way? Comedians like Chris Rock use misogynoir as the foundation for their “jokes” because they believe Black women cannot be victims due to our pain and our lived experiences being classified as unimportant and meaningless. They use these pseudo-justifications as the building blocks for society's humour which only erases our existence as deserving human beings.

Why are Black women in a nuanced position?

Let's start by understanding what misogynoir is. Misogynoir is the specific hatred, dislike, distrust, and prejudice directed toward Black women. It is the direct intersection of racism and sexism; where a unique form of bias is formed against Black women specifically.
